Frederic Farmers Cooperative

After 60+ years of operations, Frederic Farmers Cooperative closed their agronomy facility. Soil investigation results revealed the presence of nitrogen and pesticide-impacted soil.

Project remediation involved the following:

  • Removed fertilizer warehouse to access nitrogen-impacted soil
  • Excavated 3,700 cubic yards of ag-chemical-impacted soil
  • Screened soil to remove all rocks and debris larger than 1 inch in diameter and therefore allow landspreading and beneficial reuse of the soil
  • Landspread screened soil over 329 acres at permitted landspreading rates

No contaminated soil was left in place that would result in regulatory controls on the property. The project was completed under budget and within a very tight schedule. Sand Creek staff has conducted dozens of similar projects across the Midwest.

Typical clients include Agronomy facilities, Aerial applicators, Municipalities and Lumber Mills (fungicides).
