Sand Creek’s latest phytoremediation project involves a pilot planting to determine best species/varieties of trees to treat impacted groundwater downgradient in a closed municipal landfill in central Wyoming. A solar pump is being used to provide irrigation water from a downgradient well.

The site has several challenges including arid environment, sodic soils and cattle!

The pilot study will go through the 2021 growing season.
